This project is a testament that not all small spaces are synonymous with a cramped lifestyle. When a couple with an 11-foot-wide home in a leafy neighbourhood approached us to add more space to their two-storey home, we saw big potential and endless possibilities.
To suit the couple’s lifestyle, we extended the ground level’s footprint at the rear with a bright family room and topped it with a clean-lined roof terrace accessed from the principal bedroom. The deck’s glass railing extends the view into the surrounding foliage, allowing dappled light to dance on the minimal, low-slung furniture. A new interior oak-and-steel staircase completes the transition from confined to airy in a modern transformation that embraces the unexpected.
