Located in Toronto’s Rosedale-Moore Park neighbourhood, this project breathes new life into a dated condo within a mid-century building, transforming it into a bright and inviting retreat. Guided by the principles of wabi sabi — a Japanese philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and the natural world — the design embraces simplicity, creating a harmonious sanctuary for its design-savvy homeowners. Highlights include reimagined spaces like the kitchen, primary bedroom, ensuite, office, and powder room — all thoughtfully crafted to reflect the homeowners' appreciation for understated elegance and meaningful design.

The redesigned kitchen, featuring rich walnut cabinetry and white stone surfaces, balances sophistication and warmth, serving as the gathering place. In the primary bedroom, custom millwork and a mural-wrapped wall adorned with sculptural white clay forms echo the philosophy's celebration of texture, craftsmanship, and organic beauty.

Murals by Belarte Studio flow into the office and powder room, where Japandi-inspired whitewashed oak woodcarvings evoke a serene, nature-infused aesthetic. These subtle yet intentional details create a calming backdrop that enhances daily rituals.

Throughout the home, the homeowners’ curated collection of mid-century furnishings and lighting complements the wabi sabi ethos, blending timeless design with a lived-in character. The result is a residence perfectly tailored to our clients’ lifestyle — one that balances beauty and purpose while honouring the quiet grace found in imperfection and authenticity.
