What do you do with a tiny bungalow located on a 50-foot-wide lot? Build up on three of its existing main-floor brick walls to create a two-storey structure and extend the footprint both in width and length. The result is a voluminous home with nine-foot-high ceilings and sunny interiors. Modern elements resonate throughout, from the sculptural oak staircase to the ensuite tiled in grey natural stone.
The kitchen, crafted for a home owner who loves to cook and entertain, blends cabinetry in white and dark brown with Caesarstone countertops and an expansive 10-foot-long island. To infuse warmth to the front exterior, we cladded the new second storey in Accoya, a sustainable wood known for its extreme durability in outdoor use.
